Reflections on PLC Action Research – 9/22/14

Time?  The biggest challenge in my experience is time. Our teachers have their day completely micromanaged to a point of non-flexibility. We were looking into strategies for push-in intervention help and before we could even get to strategies on what could help our students we had to figure out the schedule quirks to even find a space for me to push-in.  Action research takes time and investment from teachers to think back and reflect and research new ideas. My job as a leader is to find them that time. Where it will come from is the question of the day?

Will we join our specials to provide time during the day?  Will we add extra to Afterschool to force the time?  Will we require research time during planning?  Will we offer volunteer time to further their teaching skills?  What can I take off your plate to allow this time for reflection and practice?
